Despite the ongoing restrictions due to the COVID-19 epidemic, a group of foreign scientists led by Professor Hwang Ui Wook, the director of the Institute for Phylogenomics and Evolution of the Kyungpook National University, Daegu, Republic of Korea, visited the A.V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center of Marine Biology FEB RAS. The group included three postgraduates who came to see the zoological collections of the museums of the NSCMB FEB RAS, the Federal Scientific Center of the East Asia Terrestrial Biodiversity FEB RAS, and FEFU.

On November 11, 2021, Professor Hwang Ui Wook made a presentation at the NSCMB FEB RAS on "Possible distributional changes of marine mollusks fostered by global warming in the northwestern Pacific coast".

NSCMB FEB RAS has many years of close contacts with Korean scientists. At the moment, 11 cooperation agreements have been signed between the NSCMB FEB RAS and scientific institutions of the Republic of Korea. This visit of foreign colleagues is implemented based on the agreement between the NSCMB FEB RAS and the Institute for Phylogenomics and Evolution of the Kyungpook National University.

The opening of direct flights between Seoul and Vladivostok made it possible for Korean scientists to resume their visits. The participants of the visit comply with all the necessary anti-epidemic requirements. Before flying back to the Republic of Korea, they will have to take a PCR test for coronavirus.
