Dictyopteris prolifera

Thallus bushy, coriaceous, 15–30 cm high. Branching dense, irregular. Blades flat, 0.3-1 cm broad with percurrent midrib and with membranous very narrow wings. Proliferations (blades) develop from the midrib on both surfaces. Proliferated blades elongated, linear or linear-oblanceolate, about 5-10 cm long, 2-3 mm broad, attenuated at the base and with rounded apices. Reproductive sori in linear series along both sides of the midrib. Attachment by dark brown stupose conical holdfast. Growing in the low intertidal and subtidal zones on rocks of calm open coasts.

Atlantic Islands, Asia (China, Korea, Japan).
