Amansia glomerata

Thallus blade-like, foliaceous, coarse, erect, 3-5(-10) cm high, brownish red color, coarse, membranous forming thick rosette-like clump on naked, thick, cylindrical or slightly compressed, irregularly branched stalk. Blades linear-lanceolate, strap-shaped, 2-5 mm with a faint midrib disappearing towards the apex. Blade margins serrate. Blade apices and marginal teeth inrolled. Tetrasorangial stichidia develop in marginal teeth and in pinnate marginal branchlets. Cystocarp spherical, to 800 mm diam. Attachment by holdfast tightly adhering to rocky substratum. Growing at low intertidal to upper subtidal, at the base of dead corals exposed to strong and moderate wave action.
