Dichotomaria marginata

Thallus slightly calcified, bushy, solitary or gregarious forming clumps, 3.5-6(-10) cm high, cream-red, with smooth surface. At the base the main axes terete, above becoming flattened. Branching dichotomous. Thalli flat with margins slightly thickened, (1.5)-2-3.0 mm wide, 0.3-3.8 mm thick, (0.5-0.55 mm thick at margins) and with faint visible cross banding towards the apices. Surface cells of tetrasporangial thalllus oval to spherical, 30-37 μm diam., thick-walled, sometimes with pointed apices. Growing in sheltered localities, in tide pools, on dead corals at depth 3 m.

Tropical and, subtropical waters of Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans. Found in countries of the Asia-Pacific Region: China, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Philippines. Common along shores of South America and Africa.
