Palmaria stenogona

Thallus blade-like, linear, widely or narrowly cuneate, coarse at basal portion and soft in young parts, to 40 cm high, dark carmine, fading to pinkish-green color. Branching irregularly dichotomous, digitate. Branches widely cuneate (digitate near tips), to linear almost hair-like. Proliferations develop from margins and surface of old plants (blades of one-year vegetation do not produce proliferations). Attachment by small disc-like holdfast giving rise to several plants. Growing in lower intertidal and upper subtidal on rocky, stony and stony-sandy with shells bottom in semiprotected and exposed coasts.
